We arrived in Danang in spring and took a car to travel to Hue, this is about 1 to 1.5 hour north and is a very scenic route. So we would recommend all to go by car to Hue as you can stop at the many photo opportunities that arise along the way. We personally stopped 7 times on the way.

I had booked a hotel with River view in Hue about 1.5 km from the famous Imperial Citadel. The area I stayed in had plenty of good restaurants and a vibrant life both day and night.

At night I went to the bridge crossing the river, it was lit up and there was a big night market in that area, a very nice and cool evening.

During the next days I booked tours and went to see the Tombs of the Emperors, Tomb of Thieu Tri, Tomb of Tu Duc and of course the famous Imperial Citadel. All tombs were spectacular. Also the Thien Mu Pagoda is worth a visit and is also the official symbol of the city of Hue.

I would like to visit Hue again in a few years, this is a place you can keep coming back to.
